The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has advertised 61 BS-18 Senior Veterinary Officer and equivalent posts for the Extension Wing (Animal Health Cadre), and 40 BS-17 Veterinary Officer, Semen Distribution Officer or Instructor posts for the Directorate of Breed Improvement. Both belong to the Livestock & Dairy Development Department and appear in Advertisement No. 11/2026. Apply online by 26 October 2026.

Which titles are in case 04-RK/2026
The BS-18 case groups many titles under one set of rules. As printed, they are: Senior Veterinary Officer, Assistant Director (HQR), Deputy Director Livestock at Tehsil Level, AI&PO, Assistant Director (ARES), ARO (Animal Production), ARO (Milk & Marketing), SVO Animal Health Punjab, SVO Barani Areas PVTV Rawalpindi, Senior Veterinary Officer Incharge of Veterinary Hospitals Falling in Category-B, Assistant Chief (P&E) and ADIO. You apply once for the case, not for each title. The ad does not say how the 61 seats are split between these titles.
Who can apply
The two cases have very different entry rules. Case 05-RK/2026 is an entry-level post for DVM graduates, while case 04-RK/2026 is a senior post that expects higher study or years of service.
Senior Veterinary Officer and equivalent (BS-18), 61 posts
You need one of these four routes, as printed in the ad:
- A Ph.D in Veterinary Sciences or Animal Husbandry, with a basic degree in Veterinary Sciences from a recognized university.
- An M.Phil or M.Sc. (Hons.) degree (second division) in Veterinary Sciences or Animal Husbandry, with a basic veterinary degree, and 3 years experience in BS-17 and above.
- A Master’s degree (second division) in Project Management, Management Sciences, Policy Studies, Economics, Development or Business Administration, with a basic veterinary degree, and 4 years experience in BS-17 and above.
- A DVM degree from a recognized university with 5 years experience in BS-17.
For routes 2 to 4, the ad also accepts equivalent private sector experience duly accredited by the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council, as per the SOP laid down by the L&DD Department. Practical and administrative experience counts only after the prescribed qualification.
On top of the degree, you need valid registration with the Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC).
- Age: 30 to 45. With the printed relaxation, men can apply up to 50 and women up to 53. Note the lower limit of 30.
Veterinary Officer / Semen Distribution Officer / Instructor (BS-17), 40 posts
- Degree: a DVM from a recognized university.
- Registration: valid registration with the PVMC.
- Experience: none is asked for.
- Age: 21 to 30, which the printed relaxation raises to 35 for men and 38 for women.
PVMC registration rules for both cases
The notes under both cases say the same thing:
- A valid PVMC registration certificate issued on or before the closing date is required.
- If you applied for your first registration before the closing date but the certificate is issued later, you are still eligible.
- If you apply to renew an expired registration after the closing date, you are also held eligible.
Rules for both cases
- Domicile: Punjab.
- Gender: male, female and transgender candidates can apply. A transgender candidate’s age and sex are taken from the CNIC.
- Earlier service: years with the federal government, federal semi-government or autonomous bodies, or local bodies earn no age concession.
- Private experience: if you claim experience from a private firm, bring proof at the interview that it was registered with the SECP, the Registrar of Firms or another regulator during that period.
Pay scale and job type
Case 04-RK/2026 is in BS-18 and case 05-RK/2026 is in BS-17. Both are filled on contract for 5 years, as printed. The ad gives no monthly salary figure, so treat pay figures on job blogs with caution. The place of posting is All Punjab, so be ready to work outside your home district.
How to apply for PPSC livestock department jobs 2026
- Open the Jobs page on ppsc.gop.pk and find Advertisement 11/2026. Pick case 4K2026 (Extension Wing, Animal Health Cadre) or case 5K2026 (Directorate of Breed Improvement).
- Read the Important Instructions, enter your CNIC, and verify your own email address and mobile number.
- Fill in your profile exactly as it appears on your CNIC and degree.
- Pay the Rs 600 fee against the 17-digit PSID the form gives you.
- Upload your photograph and CNIC picture, and enter your degrees with marks and your experience.
- Submit before 26 October 2026, and keep your Application Number.

Documents you need
PPSC checks documents at the interview, not when you apply. Keep these ready:
- CNIC and Punjab domicile certificate
- DVM degree, plus your Ph.D, M.Phil, M.Sc. (Hons.) or Master’s degree if you apply under case 04-RK/2026
- marks certificates showing marks obtained and total marks, or a percentage certificate, since CGPA is not accepted
- PVMC registration certificate, or proof that you applied for it before the closing date
- experience certificates for the BS-18 case, with SECP or other registration proof for any private employer
- an equivalence certificate from HEC or the department’s Qualification Equivalence Determination Committee, if you claim an equivalent or foreign degree
- an NOC or Departmental Permission Certificate, if you are a government employee

Application fee
The PPSC Jobs page shows Rs 600 for each of the two cases. Pay it against your PSID through an ATM, mobile banking, internet banking, the counter of a 1Link member bank, JazzCash, Easypaisa, UPaisa or another micro-finance bank, as the ad lists. Paying is not the last step: the application counts only after you submit the form.
Selection process
The test column in the ad says “(if held)”, so PPSC decides whether a written test is needed. If one is held:
- Case 04-RK/2026: one MCQ paper of 100 marks and 90 minutes, with all questions on Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry.
- Case 05-RK/2026: one MCQ paper of 100 marks and 90 minutes, with all questions related to DVM.

The two cases are serials 178 and 190 in the PPSC Advertisement No. 11/2026 PDF. The ad prints PPSC’s UAN, 042-111-988-722, and its address, LDA Plaza, 7-Edgerton Road, Lahore. You can read about the department at livestock.punjab.gov.pk, but applications go only through PPSC.
Beware of fake job offers
A batch of 101 government posts draws people who claim they can “arrange” a seat or sell test papers. They cannot. PPSC selects on test and interview marks, and the ad itself says that information shared by anyone other than PPSC’s website is not authentic. Pay only the Rs 600 fee against your own PSID, never send money to a person, and report fraud on the Pakistan Citizen’s Portal.
