The scheme is run by the Punjab Higher Education Department through an official online portal. Applying is free, and selection is merit-based, so your academic record is what matters most.

Who is eligible

Based on the official criteria, you generally need:

  • A valid Punjab domicile
  • To be enrolled in the 1st or 2nd semester of a BS program at a public college or university
  • Merit marks: about 65% or above for non-medical students, and 80% or above for medical students
  • Blind students are eligible regardless of marks

Students who already received a laptop under a previous government scheme are generally not eligible again. Criteria can change between phases, so always confirm the current rules on the official portal.

How to apply online, step by step

The whole process is online. There is no physical form to submit.

Step 1: Open the official portal

Go to cmlaptophed.punjab.gov.pk and create a candidate account. This is the only official portal, so be careful of copycat websites.

Step 2: Fill in your details

Enter your personal, domicile, and education details exactly as they appear on your documents. Small mistakes can cause rejection.

Step 3: Upload your documents

Upload clear, legible scans of your CNIC, domicile, and result card. Blurry or incomplete uploads may be rejected, so check each file before you submit.

Step 4: Submit and track

Submit your application, then use your account to track its status. You do not need to visit any office.

Last date and phases

The scheme runs in phases, and the deadline changes each phase. Do not trust a single “last date” you see on a random blog. Check the official portal for the current phase and its closing date, and apply early so you do not miss it.
