Getting your NADRA FRC online now happens through NADRA’s PakID mobile app, or you can visit a NADRA center in person. The Family Registration Certificate proves your family details for visas, legal work and some welfare checks. This guide explains what the FRC is, the fee, the documents, and the current way to get it, as of September 2026.

The FRC comes straight from NADRA’s records. It shows who is in your family and how they are related. If the record is wrong, the certificate will be wrong too, so it is worth checking your family details before you apply.

What is a NADRA FRC?

The FRC (Family Registration Certificate) is a NADRA document issued under Rule 19 of the NADRA (NIC) Rules, 2002. NADRA describes it as a certificate that reflects, verifies and keeps a record of a registered person’s family composition. NADRA says it is generally used for immigration, visa processing and other legal or administrative purposes.

A few points from NADRA’s own FAQ are worth knowing:

  • The FRC is not proof of Pakistani nationality. It only shows the family data in NADRA’s record.
  • It does not technically expire, but you need a new FRC if anyone’s family record changes.
  • Stepchildren are not included. Real children from all spouses appear.
  • You cannot edit an FRC directly. Any correction has to be made in your NADRA record first.

In July 2025, NADRA declared the FRC a legal document for the first time, APP reported. Giving false information for an FRC can now lead to criminal charges, and applicants confirm their family tree with a signed declaration. NADRA also began offering one certificate that shows both your birth family and your marriage family, which APP noted is useful for legal matters, travel documents and inheritance claims.

Types of FRC

NADRA offers four types. Pick the one the office asking for it needs.

Why welfare programs need an FRC

Welfare programs check your household against NADRA’s family records, because family size and marital status can affect eligibility and payments. BISP’s own registration guide asks you to bring the CNICs of household members and B-Forms of all children. It also says every CNIC should be updated in NADRA for marital status, widowhood or disability.

An FRC is the simplest way to see what NADRA’s record actually says about your family. If a spouse, child or parent is missing, or an ex-spouse still appears, you can fix the NADRA record before you register for BISP, PSER or another program. Some offices ask for an FRC directly, for example in inheritance cases. If an office asks for one, get it only from NADRA.

Documents you need

NADRA’s FRC page lists one requirement: the 13-digit ID number of the applicant. That can be a CNIC, NICOP, POC, CRC (B-Form) or Juvenile Card number.

In practice, keep these ready:

  • Your CNIC (or other NADRA ID), plus your own mobile number and email if you use the PakID app
  • A recent photograph of yourself
  • Photographs of family members under 18 who hold a CRC or Juvenile Card, if NADRA does not already have them
  • Correct family details, so you can spot anyone missing or wrong

To be eligible, NADRA says all family members should be registered with NADRA and have a valid 13-digit number. Some unregistered people, such as a relative who has died, can still be included from the details you give.

How to get a NADRA FRC online, step by step

As of September 2026, NADRA’s online FRC service is in the PakID mobile app, listed as “Pak Identity” on Google Play and the App Store. In January 2025, NADRA moved its Pak-Identity services from the website to the app, and the “Register an Account” page at id.nadra.gov.pk now tells you to use the app instead.

In the PakID app

These steps follow NADRA’s official FRC guide for the app:

  1. Install PakID using the Google Play or App Store link on nadra.gov.pk.
  2. Create your account with your email, mobile number and fingerprint or face check, then log in.
  3. On the home screen, go to the Family section and tap FRC or Family Composition.
  4. Check your family under the tabs By Birth, By Marriage, By Adoption and By All. If someone is missing, tap Add Missing Family Member. A “Data Requires Correction” icon means your record must be updated first.
  5. Tap Apply for FRC at the bottom. The next screen lets you change the FRC type and shows a fee summary. Tap Next.
  6. If any family member’s photo is missing, upload or capture it.
  7. Pay the fee in the app. NADRA accepts Visa or Mastercard debit and credit cards and Raast. For an FRC you can also pay through Easypaisa, JazzCash or an e-Sahulat franchise, using your tracking ID.
  8. You are notified when it is approved. NADRA says the FRC is emailed to you as a PDF, usually one to two days after approval, and you can also download it from the Applications section of the app. There is no courier delivery for the FRC.

At a NADRA center

If you prefer to go in person, or the app cannot verify your fingerprints, visit a NADRA Registration Center. NADRA’s FRC page also lists Mega Centers, mobile registration vans and overseas centers among the places to apply. NADRA describes the process like this:

  1. Take a token when you arrive and wait for your turn at the counter.
  2. Give biometric verification, including your children where needed.
  3. Photos are taken of children whose B-Form was issued without one.
  4. Your family data is downloaded and reviewed with you.
  5. Pay the fee at the counter.
  6. The FRC is printed and handed to you.

The fee

As of September 2026, NADRA’s fee structure page lists the FRC like this:

There is no Normal or Urgent option for the FRC in this table. These are the same amounts NADRA gave APP in July 2025, when it said the fee would not go up. For PakID applications, NADRA notes the timeline starts after you pay. Fees can change, so check the fee page before you pay, and keep your receipt.

Common problems and how to fix them

NADRA’s FAQ covers the problems people hit most often:

  • “Sibling CNIC is not found in family tree.” Apply to modify your own Smart ID card, add your brother’s or sister’s CNIC number, then apply for the FRC again.
  • Spouse missing from an FRC by marriage. Update your marital status in your CNIC record and make sure your spouse’s record is linked in NADRA’s system.
  • An ex-spouse still shows after a divorce. Submit your divorce documents and ask NADRA to modify your CNIC record.
  • A child born abroad does not show. The child first needs a NADRA document, such as a CRC, Juvenile Card or NICOP.
  • The FRC is not in your email. Check the spam or junk folder, then download it from the PakID app.

In September 2026, NADRA added a simpler way in the PakID app to add family members when an FRC shows incomplete data. If you are still stuck, file a complaint on NADRA’s complaint portal with your tracking ID and screenshots, or call 1777.

Stay safe from fraud

  • Apply only in the PakID app or at a NADRA center. NADRA says any website outside nadra.gov.pk is not an official NADRA site.
  • NADRA says it does not offer services on WhatsApp or social media, and does not authorise agents to process applications online.
  • Pay only the official fee, in the app or at the counter, and keep your receipt.
  • Never share your OTP or password. NADRA does not ask for them by phone or message.
  • Avoid anyone who asks for extra money to “speed up” your FRC, and report them on NADRA’s complaint portal or the Pakistan Citizen’s Portal.
