The passport fee in Pakistan 2026 is set by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP), and the only reliable place to check it is DGIP’s own website, dgip.gov.pk. This guide copies the figures DGIP prints there, as checked on 8 October 2026. Passports are a federal service, so the fee is the same in Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi or anywhere else in Punjab.
Passport fee in Pakistan 2026: pay it in 3 steps
- Pick your passport. Choose the pages (36 or 72 for an e-passport), the validity (5 or 10 years) and the category (normal or urgent). Find your fee in the table below.
- Pay cashless. Scan the QR code at the passport office with any banking app or wallet, or make a PSID in DGIP’s Passport Fee Asaan app or web portal and pay it under 1Bill.
- Go to a passport office with your original CNIC, your old passport if you have one, and the payment receipt or SMS. Your photo and fingerprints are taken there.

e-Passport fee 2026 (DGIP)
DGIP says the e-passport has been available from all its field offices since 16 August 2023. In July 2026 it announced that e-passports replace ordinary passports. This is the fee DGIP lists for an ordinary e-passport:
| Pages | Validity | Normal fee | Urgent fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| 36 pages | 5 years | Rs 9,000 | Rs 15,000 |
| 36 pages | 10 years | Rs 13,500 | Rs 22,500 |
| 72 pages | 5 years | Rs 16,500 | Rs 27,000 |
| 72 pages | 10 years | Rs 24,750 | Rs 40,500 |
DGIP notes that the Fast Track service is not available for e-passports, and it does not list a 100 page e-passport. DGIP says the documents for an e-passport are the same as for a machine readable passport.
Machine readable passport (MRP) fee
DGIP still prints the MRP fee, revised from 7 March 2024:
| Pages | Validity | Normal fee | Urgent fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| 36 pages | 5 years | Rs 4,500 | Rs 7,500 |
| 36 pages | 10 years | Rs 6,700 | Rs 11,200 |
| 72 pages | 5 years | Rs 8,200 | Rs 13,500 |
| 72 pages | 10 years | Rs 12,400 | Rs 20,200 |
| 100 pages | 5 years | Rs 9,000 | Rs 18,000 |
| 100 pages | 10 years | Rs 13,500 | Rs 27,000 |
The MRP Fast Track fee, revised from 8 May 2024, is Rs 12,500 (5 years) or Rs 16,200 (10 years) for 36 pages, Rs 18,500 or Rs 25,200 for 72 pages, and Rs 23,000 or Rs 32,000 for 100 pages. DGIP’s delivery table says Fast Track takes 2 working days, urgent 5 and normal 21, not counting courier time.
DGIP’s own pages do not all agree. Its FAQ page still quotes Rs 4,500 (normal) and Rs 7,500 (urgent), which are the 36 page MRP fees, not the e-passport fees. Another paragraph on the passport page says urgent takes 4 working days and normal 10. If you are unsure which fee applies to you, ask at the passport office before you pay.
Read this before you pay an MRP fee. ProPakistani reported on 24 September 2026 that DGIP will stop issuing new MRPs from 15 October 2026 and issue only e-passports. MRPs already issued stay valid until they expire.
Extra charges you may see
- Executive Passport Offices and NADRA counters. DGIP says EPOs and Passport Processing Counters charge NADRA’s own service charges on top of the passport fee.
- Lost passport. DGIP charges double the fee for a first loss and four times the fee for a second loss. You also need a police report that mentions the old passport number. Our Police Khidmat Markaz guide explains how to get a loss report in Punjab.
- Old rates. If you paid at an old rate and apply after a fee change, DGIP collects the difference before it accepts your application.
Online renewal fee on onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk
DGIP’s e-Services portal, onlinemrp.dgip.gov.pk, renews a machine readable passport online. As of October 2026, it says:
- Inside Pakistan, you can apply in the renewal category only, if your passport has expired or has 12 months or less left. The passport is delivered to the passport office you choose.
- Overseas Pakistanis can also apply for a newborn’s first passport (up to 2 years old), damaged, lost and exhausted reprints, and some changes for married women.
- Inland applicants pay Rs 1,000 service charges, including taxes, on top of the MRP fee. A 36 page, 5 year normal renewal comes to Rs 5,500. Overseas applicants pay Rs 2,500 plus taxes.
- You pay by Visa or Mastercard, and the portal also lists e-Sahulat and JazzCash for inland applicants. DGIP has a no refund policy on online applications.
The portal also says DGIP and NADRA have started passport renewal in NADRA’s PakID app. If you already use PakID for your CNIC, see our NADRA CNIC online guide.
How to pay the passport fee in 2026
DGIP announced cashless passport fee payment on 1 July 2026. Its notice says you scan a QR code, pay, and get your passport made, from any banking app or digital wallet, 24 hours a day. DGIP’s application process now lists “Fee Payment via QR Code” as a step at the office.
You can also pay before you go. DGIP’s Passport Fee Asaan mobile app and web portal generate a PSID, calculate the fee for you, let you pay it under 1Bill or 1Link, and show the fee status. DGIP accepts the bank receipt or the e-payment confirmation (receipt, SMS or email with the PSID number) as proof.
Documents you need at the passport office
For adults, DGIP asks for:
- proof of fee payment
- your original valid CNIC (or NICOP) and a photocopy
- your previous passport and a photocopy, if you had one
- an NOC from your department if you are a government or semi-government employee
- your foreign passport and a copy, if you are a dual national
For children under 18, DGIP asks for a Child Registration Certificate (B-Form) or Juvenile Card, and the CNICs of both parents. A parent or court-appointed guardian must come with the child. Our B-Form online guide shows how to get the CRC first. Children under 15 get a 5 year passport only.
Where to apply in Punjab
Under Passport Rule 6 (2021), DGIP says you can apply at any passport office, whatever address is on your CNIC. In Punjab, DGIP lists round the clock service at RPO Garden Town and the NADRA Mega Centers on Egerton Road, Peco Road and Sanda Road in Lahore. RPOs in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi run morning and evening shifts. See the full list on DGIP’s passport offices page.
If you live abroad, our NICOP guide covers the identity card you will need. If you are going abroad for work, see our jobs section for official Punjab government vacancies too. Once you have applied, our passport tracking guide explains how to follow your application.
Beware of passport agents and fake fee sites
DGIP’s own “Be cautious” notice lists the warning signs of passport scams: unofficial websites or agents, unusual payment requests, “guaranteed” or expedited services, and suspicious messages. Keep these rules:
- Never pay an agent to “speed up” a passport. The only faster option is the urgent fee, paid to DGIP.
- Pay only through the QR code, the Passport Fee Asaan app or a bank. Never send money to a person’s account or wallet.
- Ignore pages that show other prices. If a figure is not on dgip.gov.pk, do not trust it.
- Never share your OTP or bank PIN.
DGIP asks you to report anything suspicious. Its helpline is 051-111-344-777, and you can also complain through the Pakistan Citizen’s Portal.
GoPunjab is an independent website. We do not issue passports or collect fees, and we are not linked to DGIP. Always check the fee on dgip.gov.pk before you pay.
