The 8171 web portal is the official online system of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) where you can check your eligibility and payment using only your CNIC. This is the complete guide: the correct official address, exactly how to check your status, what your result means, how payments reach you, and, very importantly, how to avoid the many fake “8171” websites that try to trick people.

Millions of families rely on BISP, and “8171” is the number at the center of it. Unfortunately, that popularity has created a flood of copycat sites. By the end of this guide you will know how to use the real portal safely and spot a fake one in seconds.

What is the 8171 web portal?

“8171” is the official BISP service code. It works in two ways:

  • As a web portal at 8171.bisp.gov.pk, where you enter your CNIC to check your status online.
  • As an SMS service, where you send your CNIC to the number 8171 and get a reply.

On the portal you can:

  • Check your eligibility for BISP
  • Check your payment status and quarterly installments
  • See registration and survey updates for your household

Using it is free. The portal never charges you and never asks for a password, an OTP, or your bank details.

The official 8171 portal address (and the fakes)

This is the single most important part of this guide.

TypeAddressUse it?
Official portal8171.bisp.gov.pk✅ Yes
Official validation site8171validation.bisp.gov.pk✅ Yes (run by BISP)
Anything elsee.g. 8171help.com, bisp-8171.xyz❌ No, fake

The real portal always ends in .bisp.gov.pk. Fake sites add extra words or use endings like .com, .pk, .xyz, or .online. The safest habit is to type 8171.bisp.gov.pk yourself rather than clicking a link from WhatsApp, Facebook, or an ad.

How to check your status by CNIC, step by step

Step 1: Open the official portal

Go to 8171.bisp.gov.pk. Look at the address bar and confirm it is exactly that, with nothing added.

Step 2: Enter your CNIC

Type your 13-digit CNIC number without any dashes or spaces. For example, type 3520112345671, not 35201-1234567-1.

Step 3: Enter the captcha code

Type the captcha code shown on the screen, exactly as it appears. This is a simple check to confirm you are a real person and not a machine.

Step 4: Click Check Status

Click the check button. Your eligibility and payment status will appear on the screen.

How to check by SMS (no internet needed)

If you do not have internet, or the portal is busy, you can still check:

  1. Open the messaging app on any mobile phone.
  2. Type your 13-digit CNIC number without dashes.
  3. Send it to 8171.

You will receive a reply with your eligibility and payment information. This works on a basic phone too, which is why it is so widely used.

Understanding your result

Your result will generally tell you whether you are currently eligible and whether a payment is due or has been issued. A result showing you as eligible means your household qualifies under the current assessment; it is not a promise of a fixed date. A result showing you are not eligible usually means your PMT score (poverty score) did not meet the cut-off, or your household data needs updating.

To understand how eligibility is decided, read our guide on the BISP eligibility and PMT score.

How much is the payment in 2026?

As of 2026, the Benazir Kafaalat quarterly stipend was revised to Rs 14,500, up from Rs 13,500. It is paid every three months to eligible women. Other BISP programs have their own amounts, such as Benazir Taleemi Wazaif for children’s education and Benazir Nashonuma for nutrition. Amounts can change, so always confirm the current figure on the official portal.

How you receive your payment

In 2026, eligible beneficiaries receive their payments through approved channels:

  • ATMs
  • HBL Konnect agents
  • Bank Alfalah partner points
  • Official BISP campsites

To stay safe when collecting payment:

  • Collect your full amount yourself and count it.
  • Never share your fingerprint, OTP, or any code with an agent more than the system requires.
  • If money is deducted or withheld, refuse and report it on the BISP helpline 0800-26477.

Who is eligible to use BISP

The 8171 portal is for everyone to check, but payment eligibility is limited. In general you must:

  • Be a Pakistani citizen with a valid CNIC
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Belong to a low-income household
  • Be registered in the NSER (National Socio-Economic Registry) survey

Priority is given to widows, divorced women, and persons with disabilities. Government employees and higher-income households are generally not eligible.

How to register if you are not in the system

If the portal shows you are not registered, you cannot fix this online. New registration is done in person at a BISP Tehsil office through the NSER dynamic survey. Bring your CNIC, your family’s CNICs, children’s B-Forms, proof of residence, and a registered mobile number. For the full process, read our BISP new registration guide.

Troubleshooting common problems

The portal will not open or is very slow. It gets heavy traffic, especially when a new payment is announced. Try early morning or late at night, check your internet, and refresh. If it still will not load, use the SMS service to 8171.

My CNIC is not showing any record. Confirm you typed the CNIC correctly, without dashes. If it still shows nothing, you may not be registered, or your survey data may be under review. Visit a BISP Tehsil office to confirm.

It says I am not eligible. Your PMT score may not have met the cut-off, or your household details may be out of date. You can update your information through the NSER survey at a Tehsil office, after which your eligibility is re-assessed.

How to spot and avoid fake 8171 websites

Fake “8171 check” sites are a serious problem. Here is how to recognise them:

  • The address is wrong — it has extra words like 8171help, or ends in .com, .online, or .xyz instead of .bisp.gov.pk.
  • The site is covered in ads, keeps redirecting you, or forces you to install an app.
  • It asks for your bank details, OTP, password, or money. The real portal never does this.
  • It promises to register you online or to increase your payment for a fee.

If you shared sensitive information with a fake site: if you gave only your CNIC, the risk is usually low. But if you shared bank details, an OTP, or a password, contact your bank immediately, change any shared password, call the BISP helpline 0800-26477, and report the fraud to the FIA Cybercrime Wing at 9911.
