PPSC charge nurse jobs 2026 are open for women nurses across Punjab. The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) has advertised 1,958 posts of Charge Nurse (Female), BS-16, for the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education (SH&ME) Department, and online applications close on 5 October 2026. The posts are on a 3-year contract, and you can be posted anywhere in Punjab.

This is a very large intake, so many nurses will apply. Get your documents in order now and apply a few days before the last date.

Who can apply

Qualification and PNC registration

You need one of these two qualifications, as printed in the ad:

  1. B.Sc. Nursing Generic (four years), with valid registration from the Pakistan Nursing Council (PNC); or
  2. Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery, with valid registration from the PNC.

The ad says preference will be given to graduates of government institutions. It does not say how that preference is applied. It does not limit the post to government graduates either, so the qualification rule above is what decides eligibility.

PPSC says it has no power to relax any eligibility condition. If you claim that a different qualification is equivalent, you must show an equivalence certificate from HEC or the department’s Qualification Equivalence Determination Committee (QEDC) at the interview. Without it, PPSC cancels the candidature.

PNC registration is the part most nurses ask about. The ad has an Important Note on it:

  • If you applied to PNC for registration of your diploma or B.Sc. Nursing Generic on or before 5 October 2026, but your card was issued after that date or has not been issued yet, you are provisionally eligible. You must produce proof, properly stamped and signed by PNC’s competent authority, that you applied for the card on or before the closing date.
  • If your registration card has expired, the ad says candidates who apply to PNC for renewal after the closing date will also be held eligible.

So a pending card does not stop you from applying. Keep PNC’s stamped proof safe, because PPSC asks you to bring your registration certificate, or the proof, to the interview if you are called.

Age

The ad prints the age for female candidates as 21 to 28 + 08 = 36 years. PPSC’s instructions explain that this extra 8 years is the across-the-board relaxation for women (5 years plus 3 years), and it is already added. So you can apply if you are at least 21 and not over 36.

  • PPSC normally counts age on the closing date, 5 October 2026. Being over the limit by even one day makes you ineligible.
  • PPSC takes your date of birth from your Matric certificate.
  • PPSC’s instructions raise the upper age limit by 15 years for specially abled persons.
  • Employees of the Federal Government, its semi-government and autonomous bodies, and local bodies get no age concession for their service there.
  • For transgender candidates, age and sex are taken from the CNIC.

Gender and domicile

  • Gender: female and female transgender candidates only. Male nurses cannot apply for this post.
  • Domicile: any district of Punjab, issued on or before the closing date. If you applied for your domicile before the closing date and can show proof, a domicile issued later is accepted.
  • The domicile must be from the same district you enter in the online form. If it is not, PPSC rejects the application.
  • A married woman who does not yet have her own domicile may use her husband’s district. She then shows her husband’s domicile certificate and proof of the marriage.

Place of posting

The ad says “Anywhere in Punjab”. It names no hospital or city, so apply only if you are ready to work wherever the department posts you.

Pay scale and job type

Charge Nurse (Female) is a BS-16 post on a contract for 3 years. The ad prints the scale but no monthly salary in rupees. Treat salary figures on job blogs and social media with care, and rely on your appointment letter if you are selected.

How to apply for PPSC charge nurse jobs 2026

PPSC accepts online applications only. In short:

  1. Open ppsc.gop.pk and click Apply Online, or open the PPSC Jobs page. Under Advertisement No. 10/2026, choose Charge Nurse Female (case 33D2026).
  2. Read the post details and PPSC’s Important Instructions, tick the undertaking and continue.
  3. Enter your CNIC, then your own email address and mobile number, and verify them. PPSC does not let you change them later.
  4. Fill in your personal details. If you are specially abled, mark “Yes” in the disability column. If you need a reader or writer for the test, ask for it now, because PPSC does not accept that request on test day.
  5. Pay the Rs 600 fee with the 17-digit PSID the system gives you (see the fee section below).
  6. Upload a recent photograph and the front of your CNIC, each under 25KB.
  7. Add your qualifications, including your nursing degree or diploma, and your service record if you have one.
  8. Submit the application. Keep your Application Number and the Token Number that PPSC sends by SMS and email.

You can edit your application until 5 October 2026. Paying the fee alone does not submit your application, so finish every step. Documents you need

Keep clear scans ready for the online form. Keep the originals and two sets of photocopies for the interview:

  • Original valid CNIC (you also need it to sit the test)
  • Matric certificate, because PPSC takes your date of birth from it
  • Intermediate certificate and your other academic certificates
  • B.Sc. Nursing Generic degree or Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery, with certificates showing marks obtained and total marks, or a percentage certificate. PPSC does not accept CGPA.
  • PNC registration card, or PNC’s stamped and signed proof that you applied for it on or before 5 October 2026
  • Punjab domicile of the district you enter in the form (married women using the husband’s district: his domicile and proof of marriage)
  • Disability certificate from the Provincial Council for the Rehabilitation of Specially Abled Persons (Social Welfare Department), issued by the closing date, if you apply as a specially abled candidate
  • NOC or Departmental Permission Certificate, if you are already a government employee
  • Equivalence certificate from HEC or QEDC, if you claim an equivalent or foreign qualification

Application fee

The PPSC Jobs page lists a fee of Rs 600 for this post. Pay it against your own 17-digit PSID under the GoPb biller. You can use a 1Link bank ATM, internet or mobile banking, JazzCash, Easypaisa, UPaisa, or the counter of a 1Link member bank. The amount appears automatically when you enter the PSID.

  • One PSID and one fee per post. A fee paid for this post cannot be used for another post.
  • Specially abled candidates pay no fee.
  • PPSC does not accept the old challan form 32-A, bank drafts, pay orders or cheques.
  • PPSC does not refund the fee, so check your eligibility before you pay.

Selection process

PPSC runs the selection. The ad prints the test for this post:

  • Paper: one MCQ written test of 100 marks and 90 minutes.
  • Syllabus: qualification related questions (100%). In simple words, the questions come from what you studied for your nursing degree or diploma.
  • Negative marking: PPSC cuts 0.25 marks for each wrong answer, so think before you guess.
  • Pass mark: 40% in the MCQ test.
  • Interview: PPSC normally calls 5 candidates per post, from the top of the test merit. You need at least 50% in the interview.
  • Scrutiny: candidates sit the test provisionally. PPSC checks your original documents at the interview and can still reject an ineligible candidate then.

On test day, bring your original CNIC and your own blue or black pen. Mobile phones and other gadgets are not allowed, and PPSC may lodge an FIR against a candidate found with one. Candidates who get a reader or writer from PPSC, such as visually impaired candidates, get 15 extra minutes.

Test dates, admission letters (roll number slips) and results appear only on ppsc.gop.pk, with SMS and email alerts. PPSC posts a tentative test schedule at least 7 days before the test and does not send admission letters to anyone individually.

Beware of fake job offers

A big intake like this attracts people who promise a sure selection for money. Protect yourself:

  • No agent, tutor, hospital employee or official can get you selected. PPSC’s own instructions tell candidates to refuse anyone who offers help with selection, because its system does not allow such favours.
  • If someone offers you a favour in the test or interview, PPSC asks you to report it to a Member of the Commission at member12@ppsc.gop.pk or 042-99202301. PPSC says your name will be kept secret.
  • The ad itself says that no information shared by anyone other than on PPSC’s website is authentic. Ignore “merit lists”, “test dates” and “roll number slips” forwarded on WhatsApp.
  • Pay only the Rs 600 fee, and only through your own PSID. Never give anyone your ATM PIN, banking password or an OTP.
  • If a shop or a friend fills the form for you, make sure it is on ppsc.gop.pk, with your own email and mobile number.
  • Report fraud through the Pakistan Citizen’s Portal.
