8070 SMS check is the quickest way to see whether your household appears in the Punjab government’s records for its relief and card schemes. You send your CNIC number to 8070 and get an automatic reply. This guide explains what 8070 is, how to use it correctly, and what to do when it does not reply.
The service works on any mobile phone. You do not need the internet, a smartphone, or an app, which is why the Punjab government uses it for schemes aimed at low-income households.
What 8070 actually is
8070 is a short code, not a program by itself. Think of it as a phone number that the Punjab government uses to answer one question automatically: is this CNIC in our system, and what is its status?
Over time, the Punjab government has used 8070 for several schemes, including:
- The Ramzan and Nigehban relief packages
- The Kisan Card for farmers
- Other seasonal Punjab relief and subsidy drives
Because the same code is reused, the reply you get depends on which scheme is active at that time. During a Ramzan package phase, the reply is about that package. Outside an active phase, you may get no useful reply at all, and that does not mean anything is wrong with your CNIC.
How to do an 8070 SMS check
Step 1: Use the right SIM
Send the message from a mobile number registered on your own CNIC. This is the single most common reason checks fail. If your SIM is registered on a relative’s CNIC, the system cannot match you.
You can confirm which SIMs are registered on your CNIC by sending your CNIC number to 668, the PTA SIM information service.
Step 2: Type your CNIC correctly
Type your 13-digit CNIC number with:
- No dashes
- No spaces
- No extra words
So 3520212345671, not 35202-1234567-1.
Step 3: Send it to 8070
Send the message. The SMS is free, and no balance is deducted.
Step 4: Read the reply carefully
The automatic reply will normally tell you one of these things:
- Your CNIC is found and eligible, with the next step
- Your CNIC is found but not currently eligible
- Your CNIC is not found in the current scheme’s list
- You need to complete a survey or registration first
What to do if 8070 says you are not eligible
A “not eligible” reply is a status for one scheme at one moment. It is not a permanent judgment on your household, and it can change.
The most useful step for most Punjab families is to make sure they are registered in the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER). PSER is the household survey that many Punjab schemes draw from, so being missing from it can quietly block you from several programs at once. If you believe your household details are out of date, for example your income, family size, or disability status has changed, updating your PSER record matters more than sending the SMS again.
8070 versus 8171
These two codes are constantly confused, so it is worth being clear:

Is there an 8070 web portal?
Many private websites advertise an “8070 web portal” and ask you to enter your CNIC. Be careful with these. Most are not government websites. They collect CNIC numbers and show adverts, and some try to charge you.
For anything official, use the relevant scheme’s own government portal, such as pser.punjab.gov.pk for PSER, or visit an e-Khidmat Markaz in person. When a Punjab scheme has an official online check, it lives on a punjab.gov.pk address.
Protect yourself from 8070 scams
Seasonal relief schemes attract fraud every year. Remember:
- The 8070 check is free. Nobody should ask you for money.
- The government does not ask you to send an easypaisa or JazzCash fee to “confirm” your registration.
- Never share an OTP or verification code with anyone, including someone claiming to be a government official.
- No agent can “get your name added” to a list for a fee.
If someone demands payment, that is fraud. You can report it through the Pakistan Citizen’s Portal.

- Your nearest e-Khidmat Markaz
- A PSER registration centre or the PSER portal
- The relevant scheme’s own office, for example the Agriculture Department for Kisan Card questions
