The Sehat card treatment list for Punjab is published by the Punjab Health Initiative Management Company (PHIMC), which runs the program now officially called the Health Insurance Program. PHIMC does not publish a long list of procedures. It publishes treatment categories, a short list of what is free, and a list of what is not covered. This guide puts all three in one place, as of September 2026.

This page is only about Punjab. Lists on sehatsahulat.com.pk belong to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Sehat Card Plus, and pmhealthprogram.gov.pk is the federal program for Islamabad, AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. New to the program? Start with our main Sehat Card guide.

Sehat card treatment list: check your treatment in 3 steps

  1. Check that you need admission. Only in-patient treatment is covered. OPD visits are not.
  2. Find your treatment on PHIMC’s lists below: covered, free, or excluded. PHIMC says other conditions are on a 50% co-payment.
  3. Confirm at the hospital. Take your original CNIC to the Hospital Facilitation Officer (HFO) at an empanelled hospital, or call 0800-07542 (24/7), before you agree to admission.

Ask the Hospital Facilitation Officer whether your treatment is covered, free or on the 50% co-payment before admission.

Treatments covered by the Sehat Card in Punjab

PHIMC’s English FAQ says coverage during a hospital stay includes:

  • In-patient medical and surgical procedures
  • Emergency admissions
  • Fractures and injuries
  • Heart procedures (angioplasty, bypass)
  • Cancer (surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy)
  • Diabetes complications
  • Burns and road traffic accidents (life or limb saving treatment, prosthesis)
  • Chronic infections (hepatitis, HIV, rheumatology)
  • Neurosurgical procedures
  • Thalassemia treatment

The FAQ also says:

  • Medicines, tests and diagnostics are covered, but only while you are admitted.
  • Pre-existing conditions are covered.
  • One day before and up to five days after your hospital stay are covered.

Secondary care and priority care

PHIMC splits cover into two yearly limits for each family. The Urdu FAQ explains them:

  • Secondary care, PKR 60,000 a year: any treatment that needs a hospital admission.
  • Priority care, PKR 400,000 a year: serious, high-cost conditions. The Urdu FAQ names heart disease, diabetes complications that need admission, accident injuries (fractures, road accidents and burns), complications of chronic diseases such as hepatitis B and C, neurosurgery, and thalassemia.

Cover can be extended up to PKR 1,000,000 in special cases. A family means husband, wife and their unmarried children. Unused cover has no cash value. Our Sehat Card balance check guide explains how the limit is used up and how to ask what is left.

What is free and what needs a 50% co-payment

As of September 2026, PHIMC’s FAQ says empanelled private hospitals give these treatments free:

Free at empanelled private hospitalsYou pay 50%
CancerOther covered conditions
ICU, CCU and NICU
Medical cases
Thalassemia
All emergency services

“For other medical conditions, 50% of the treatment cost is covered by the Health Insurance Program.” Your family pays the other half. The FAQ’s answer on medicines and tests repeats the 50% rule for the co-payment policy.

In hospital language, a “medical case” usually means an admission treated without an operation. A planned operation that is not on the free list is likely to be on the 50% co-payment, so ask before you agree.

What the Sehat Card does not cover

PHIMC’s FAQ says these are not covered by the program or the insurance company:

  • Outpatient visits (OPD)
  • Normal delivery and C-sections
  • Cosmetic procedures
  • Dental treatment
  • Eyeglasses
  • Drug addiction treatment
  • Self-inflicted injuries, or injuries from crimes
  • Any treatment excluded by the insurance company’s policy

Because deliveries are excluded, mothers may want to look at the separate Aaghosh Program. PHIMC also runs separate Chief Minister programmes, such as for dialysis, transplants, cardiac surgery and cancer patients. They have their own rules and are not part of this list.

Is there a full list of procedures?

Not that we could find. As of September 2026, PHIMC’s Health Insurance Program page links only to the FAQ and the hospital list. It does not publish a procedure-by-procedure list or package prices. Services are provided through a contracted insurance company, and the FAQ says anything excluded by its policy is not covered.

So a treatment that is not named above may still be covered, or may not be. Only the hospital desk or the helpline can tell you for your case. Be careful with long “disease lists” on blogs and social media. Many of them are copied from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s program or from old versions of Punjab’s scheme.

How to confirm your treatment at the hospital

Every empanelled hospital has a Hospital Facilitation Officer, or a program helpdesk at reception. PHIMC’s FAQ says the HFO checks your CNIC and guides you through admission.

  1. Take your original CNIC. For a child under 18, also take the child’s B-Form.
  2. Tell the HFO the treatment the doctor has advised.
  3. Ask three questions. Is this treatment covered? Is it free or on the 50% co-payment? How much of my family’s limit is left?
  4. Ask for the estimate in writing if you have to pay a share, and keep every bill.

Check the hospital’s status first

PHIMC’s hospital list, “List of Empaneled Hospitals under Health Insurance Program (HIP)”, now has a Currently Status column. When we viewed the HIP hospital list PDF on 28 September 2026, it had 153 hospitals. Most were marked Active, but 10 were marked Services on hold and one was marked Not Active. The PDF’s file details show it was created on 17 September 2026.

Find your hospital on the list before you travel, and call it or 0800-07542 to check. Our Sehat Card hospital list guide explains how to search the list on your phone.

In an emergency, do not wait. Go to the nearest hospital. Emergencies are on PHIMC’s free list, and the FAQ says life-threatening conditions are covered even after the limit is used.

If you are refused a covered treatment

PHIMC’s FAQ says to first check that your case needs admission, that the treatment is not excluded, and that your limit is not used up (this does not apply in emergencies). If the refusal is still wrong:

  • Speak to the HFO at the hospital
  • Call 0800-07542 (24/7), or 0333-6756390, 042-99066000 or 042-99066001 (Monday to Saturday, 8am to 11pm)
  • Email info@phimc.punjab.gov.pk

If a family member is missing from your record, update it at NADRA. Our NADRA FRC guide shows how to check your family record.

Beware of agents and fake “packages”

There is no registration and no fee for Punjab’s program. Your CNIC is your card.

  • Nobody can add a treatment to your cover, or “upgrade” your package, for money
  • Never share an OTP with a caller who says they are from the Sehat Card
  • Ignore messages offering a “full disease list” or cover in exchange for a payment
  • Use only phimc.punjab.gov.pk and 0800-07542 for Punjab
