The biggest share is 30 seats for Senior Registrar Obstetrics & Gynaecology. In simple words, a Senior Registrar leads the resident doctors on a ward. PPSC’s job description, uploaded on 15 September 2026, calls the post the chief resident of the ward, whole time and residential. The work covers ward management, emergency and indoor patient care, teaching residents, trainees and nurses under the consultant, the ward’s medical audit, and research.

Who can apply

All five posts need a medical or dental degree recognized by the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) and valid PMC or PMDC registration. The details differ by post.

Senior Registrar Obst. & Gynae (30 seats)

  • MBBS plus FCPS, MS, FRCS, MRCP, MD or Diplomat of American Board in the specialty, or a PMC-recognized equivalent.
  • If no such candidate is available: the same degrees in General Surgery or Medicine, plus 3 years’ practical experience in the specialty after post-graduation.
  • Posting: various teaching hospitals in Punjab.

Senior Registrar Neonatology (5 seats)

  • MBBS, PMC registration, and FCPS, MD, CCT or Diplomat American Board in Neonatology, or an equivalent.
  • If no such candidate is available: a Paediatrics postgraduate degree (FCPS, MD, MRCPCH or American Board) with 1 year of Neonatology experience in an accredited program, or else 2 years of Neonatology experience.
  • Posting: Children’s Hospital Multan, Children’s Hospital Faisalabad, and Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi Hospital Bahawalpur.

Senior Registrar Paediatric Gastroenterology (2 seats)

  • MBBS, PMC registration, and FCPS, MD, CCT or Diplomat American Board in Paediatric Gastroenterology and Hepatology, or an equivalent.
  • If no such candidate is available: a Paediatrics postgraduate degree with 1 year (accredited program) or 2 years of Paediatric Gastroenterology experience.
  • Posting: various teaching hospitals in Punjab. One seat is on the women quota.

Assistant Professor of Operative Dentistry (2 seats)

  • BDS with MDS in the subject, or a PMDC/PMC-recognized equivalent. Teaching experience is preferred and published research gets credit.
  • Fallbacks: BDS with a postgraduate minor diploma and 3 years as Demonstrator after it, or else BDS with 10 years as Demonstrator and at least 3 research papers.

Associate Professor Neonatology (1 seat)

  • The Neonatology qualification above, plus 5 years’ teaching as Assistant Professor Neonatology (BS-18) and 3 research publications in Neonatology in a PMDC/PMC or HEC-recognized journal.
  • Posting: medical universities, colleges or hospitals in Punjab.

Age, domicile and gender

  • Age: 25 to 45 years for Senior Registrar and Assistant Professor. With the relaxation printed in the ad, the upper limit is 50 for men and 53 for women. Associate Professor: 30 to 50, so up to 55 for men and 58 for women.
  • Domicile: any district of Punjab.
  • Gender: men, women and transgender persons can apply. For transgender candidates, age and sex are taken from the CNIC.
  • Other relaxation: PPSC’s Important Instructions allow more in some cases, such as up to 15 extra years for specially abled persons. Federal government and local bodies employees get no age concession for that service.

Registration, experience and research rules

  • Your PMC/PMDC registration must be valid on the closing date, or you need proof that you applied for renewal by then.
  • Experience counts only after the prescribed qualification, on a certificate from the appointing authority, PMDC or PMC, backed by an appointment letter or office order. Private, foreign, BOM, TTS or OPS experience (OPS only up to 17 June 2021) needs PMDC/PMC recognition.
  • Research papers must be original articles published by the closing date. Review articles, case reports, editorials and conference papers do not count.

Pay scale and job type

The Senior Registrar and Assistant Professor posts are in BS-18, and the Associate Professor post is in BS-19. All five are on contract for 3 years, extendable on good performance. The advertisement gives the scale but no rupee salary, so be careful with salary figures you see on job blogs.

How to apply for PPSC senior registrar jobs 2026

PPSC takes applications online only. These steps follow PPSC’s official step-by-step procedure:

  1. Open the PPSC jobs page. The “Apply Online” button on the PPSC home page opens the same list.
  2. Under Advertisement No. 09/2026, click your post. For example, Senior Registrar Obst. and Gynae is listed as Case No. 31D2026.
  3. Read the post details and click Proceed. Read the Important Instructions and the E-Pay User Manual, tick the undertaking and click Apply Online.
  4. Enter your CNIC number.
  5. Enter your email address and mobile number, then verify them. Use your own, because PPSC does not let you change them later.
  6. Fill in your date of birth, gender, employment type, disability status and personal information, and save.
  7. The system gives you a PSID (Payment System Identifier). Pay the Rs 600 fee against it, as explained below.
  8. Upload a recent colour photograph on a white background and the front of your CNIC, as small JPG files. Check PPSC’s photograph requirements first.
  9. Add your qualifications, and your service record if you have one.
  10. Read the undertaking and click Submit Application. You get an Application Number, plus an email and SMS with a token number for editing or printing.
  11. Print the form. Within 7 working days after 21 September 2026, send the hard copy with two photocopy sets of all relevant documents and research papers to PPSC.

Documents you need

Keep clear scans ready, and keep the originals for the interview:

  • Valid CNIC (not expired on the last day of applying)
  • Matric, Intermediate and MBBS or BDS certificates, with detailed marks certificates (PPSC does not accept CGPA alone)
  • Postgraduate degree or diploma (FCPS, MS, MD, MDS and so on) and your PMC/PMDC registration certificate
  • Experience certificates with appointment letters, and research papers where your post needs them
  • Punjab domicile from the same district you enter in the form
  • Equivalence certificate from HEC or the department’s committee (QEDC) for a foreign or “equivalent” degree
  • Departmental Permission Certificate if you are a government employee
  • Disability certificate from the Social Welfare Department’s council, if you apply on the special persons quota

Application fee

The PPSC jobs page shows a fee of Rs 600 for each of these posts. The fee is per post, so two posts means paying twice. Pay with your 17-digit PSID under the GoPb biller in bill payments, at a 1Link member bank ATM or branch counter, through internet or mobile banking, or with JazzCash, Easypaisa or UPaisa.

PPSC does not accept the old challan form 32-A, bank drafts, pay orders or cheques. The fee is non-refundable. Specially abled persons do not have to pay it. For payment problems, use PPSC’s complaint system at ppsc.gop.pk/cmsnew.

Selection process

  • PPSC runs the whole selection. The ad prints no test syllabus for these SH&ME posts, and PPSC decides whether to hold a test.
  • Shortlisting for interview is on academic record and/or a written test, normally 5 candidates per post. In multiple-choice tests, 0.25 marks are cut for each wrong answer and the pass mark is 40%.
  • At the interview, PPSC checks your original documents in detail, and an ineligible candidate is rejected even then. The interview pass mark is 50%.
  • Schedules, roll number slips and results appear only on ppsc.gop.pk, with SMS and email alerts.

Beware of fake job offers

  • No agent, doctor or official can get you selected. PPSC’s own instructions ask candidates to refuse anyone who offers help with selection and to report them to the Commission.
  • PPSC has warned about fake websites that copy its name, such as ppsc.com.pk and ppsc-jobs.com. Use only ppsc.gop.pk.
  • Pay only the Rs 600 fee, and only through your own PSID.
  • Report fraud through the Pakistan Citizen’s Portal.
