The ad gives two routes. You need to meet one of them in full:
- PhD route: a PhD in Mass Communication, or in a relevant subject, with 10 years of professional experience.
- 16-year route: 16 years of education in the same subjects, with 12 years of professional experience in the relevant field.
So a 16-year degree with 11 years of experience is not enough. On that route you need the full 12 years. On the PhD route you need 10.
Other points:
- Subjects: the portal lists the degree areas as Mass Communication, and Media and Mass Communication. The ad also accepts “relevant subject(s)” but does not name them. If your degree has another title, ask DGPR whether it counts before you apply.
- Age: maximum 62 years, calculated on the closing date for applications, 21 September 2026. No minimum age is printed, and the ad mentions no age relaxation.
- Gender: the portal says both men and women can apply.

- Experience: the ad asks for “professional experience”, and on the 16-year route “professional experience in the relevant field”. It does not define this further, so list every role with its dates and describe the communication work you did.
What the job is about
The ad gives one purpose: to strengthen the strategic communication capacity of the department. It does not list day-to-day duties, reporting lines or targets, and the job description on the portal repeats the ad text. The portal files the post under the “Information and Culture” industry. - Pay: Management Pay Scale MPS-1, as printed in the ad. The ad does not print the rupee amount or any allowances.

About the “15 days”: the ad also tells candidates to apply within fifteen (15) days of publication. It prints the last date as 21 September 2026, and the portal shows the same date. Treat 21 September as the deadline, but don’t leave it to the last day.
